The QTSD™ Academy FAQ
THE QTSD™ ACADEMY FAQ - 2026
The QTSD™ Academy is a weekly small-group training environment for serious, higher-level players in the Columbus area.
Offered multiple times throughout the year, each 8 to 10-week MesoCycle follows a progressive curriculum with a defined technical and tactical emphasis. Training is structured, demanding, and built for athletes who want more than casual reps.
This is not a drop-in program. Placement is earned, expectations are clear, and players are expected to train with focus; both individually and within their assigned group.
QTSD™ Academy formats include:
• QTSD™ Academy (open enrollment)
• QTSD™ Academy (30+)
• QTSD™ Academy (60+)
**All 30+ & 60+ training group placements are determined through a required QTSD™ Pre-Enrollment Evaluation.(https://www.qtsdsoccer.com/the-qtsd-academy-evaluation)
The QTSD™ Academy was built to provide players in Columbus and Dayton with a focused training environment that complements their club, high school, or college commitments.
It operates independently of team dynamics and playing-time pressures, giving athletes space to train, improve, and stretch their game without external distractions. The objective is simple: develop quick, creative, and confident players who impact their teams.
By training under professional coaching outside their regular team setting, athletes gain the freedom to refine details, test new ideas, and build habits that translate directly into match performance.
Players may train with the QTSD™ Academy regardless of club or high school affiliation. We are fully club-neutral and designed to complement - not interfere with - an athlete’s primary team commitments.
Each QTSD™ Academy format is structured around an athlete’s current competitive experience and their standing within the QTSD™ Development Pathway.
• QTSD™ Academy - Designed for higher-level players beginning their Academy experience. This group emphasizes technical mastery; first touch, ball control, dribbling under pressure, passing and receiving consistency, and composed finishing. The focus is building reliable execution and confidence at match speed.
• QTSD™ Advanced Academy* - Requires a QTSD™ Evaluation Score of 30+. This environment is for experienced, coachable, competitive athletes ready for increased tempo, accountability, and tactical demand. Prior experience within the QTSD™ system is strongly encouraged.
• QTSD™ Academy (60+)* - Requires a QTSD™ Evaluation Score of 60+. Reserved for the highest-level players in the program. Athletes in this group demonstrate consistent tactical awareness, strong decision-making, competitive edge, and the maturity to handle elevated expectations week after week.
Athletes may schedule re-evaluations at any time to reassess placement.
QTSD™ maintains final discretion on all training placements to ensure the right competitive fit for every athlete.
The QTSD™ Academy operates as a professional training environment and is not affiliated with any league or club structure. We do not conduct traditional “tryouts.” However, enrollment standards are clear and placement is intentional.
Beginning Spring 2025, all athletes seeking entry into our advanced training groups must complete a QTSD™ Pre-Enrollment Evaluation. This process allows our coaching staff to assess current technical level, tactical understanding, coachability, and competitive mindset to ensure proper group placement.
Training environments include:
• QTSD™ Academy - Open enrollment for qualified athletes entering the Academy pathway.
• QTSD™ Academy (30+) - Requires a 30+ Evaluation Score prior to acceptance.
• QTSD™ Academy (60+) - Requires a 60+ Evaluation Score prior to acceptance. Reserved for athletes demonstrating consistent tactical awareness, decision-making, and competitive maturity.
While uncommon, there are instances where placement is not offered due to factors such as readiness, coachability, behavior, or overall fit within the training environment.
If the Academy is not the right fit at the time of evaluation, we will guide families toward alternative training options that better support the athlete’s current stage of development.
The QTSD™ Academy is organized into two defined training blocks each year, referred to as MesoCycles. These extended learning cycles are designed to provide consistent, focused development alongside an athlete’s club or school season.
• Winter MesoCycle - 10-week extended format (Full Winter session only)
• Summer MesoCycle - 8-week extended format (Full Summer session only)
Program structure and scheduling adjust based on the time of year, with formats tailored to complement in-season and off-season demands.
The schedule for QTSD™ Academy will vary during the different terms of the year. The majority of sessions will be 5 pm+ on weeknights (with the addition of Saturday mornings in the Winter
Beginning in 2026, the QTSD™ Academy will operate from two primary outdoor training locations (March–November):
• QTSD™ Academy Training Grounds - 2655 W. Schrock Road – Westerville, Ohio
• Columbus Soccer Academy - 3410 Owen-Fraley Road – Delaware, Ohio
During the winter months (December–February), training will transition indoors at:
• QTSD™ Academy Indoor Training Courts - 776 Morrison Road – Gahanna, Ohio
• Columbus Soccer Academy - 3410 Owen-Fraley Road – Delaware, Ohio
Each training group’s assigned location will be outlined within its specific program description to ensure clarity and convenience for families.
Enrollment in a full QTSD™ MesoCycle reserves a specific training day and time for your athlete for the duration of that cycle. Consistency is a key part of the development model, and athletes are expected to attend their assigned sessions.
We understand that occasional schedule conflicts arise. To accommodate this, 1–2 official make-up sessions are offered at the conclusion of each Extended MesoCycle.
Unused sessions expire at the end of the term and are not eligible for rollover or credit conversion.
In limited cases, athletes may be able to flex into another scheduled training group if an appropriate alternative is available and space permits. Flex placement is not guaranteed and depends on age group alignment and coaching availability.
If a session reaches capacity, please reach out. When coaching staff and facility space allow, we will evaluate opening an additional group.
If an Academy time does not align with your athlete’s schedule, our 1-on-1 Training option offers greater flexibility and a fully individualized training schedule.
